A Memorial Gift has been given to New Light
Methodist Church by Mrs. Helen Underhill in loving memory of her
daughter:
Mrs. June Ann Underhill Downing
February 28th, 1948 - October 1, 2007

June was a dedicated registered
nurse for almost 40 years working in hospitals in New York City,
Manchester, Concord, and most recently as a certified wound
specialist in Dover.
June epitomized the caring,
conscientious professional. She was a true lover of
animals and enjoyed living on a small farm with her family for a
time. This desire to nurture life was also shown in her
vegetable and flower gardens.
But mostly her time and energy
was spent loving an caring for her two sons and husband, for
family was held above all else including herself.
June will be missed greatly by
her family and friends.
~ May God bless her memory ~

Memorial gifts have been
given to the Music Fund of New Light Methodist Church by Rick
& Fawn Chandler, Patricia Finney, Jan Miller and Jean
Thompson in loving memory of:
Clifford H. Lewis
March 29th, 1913 - July 15th, 2007
Cliff was loved by all who knew him. He was a joy to have as
a member of our congregation, and showed his love for the Lord
every moment he was in worship. When the choir sang, he sang.
While we mourn his loss, we celebrate his life on earth, and his
new life eternal with his heavenly father. He will be greatly
missed by all who knew him!

A memorial
gift has been given to the building fund of New Light Methodist
Church by Ross & Nancy Geiger in memory of Thad Bostic:

Our
Beloved Tarheel
December 8th, 1935 ~ August 29th, 2006

Thaddeus Stevens Bostic Sr.
was born December 8, 1935 in Forest City, North Carolina. He was
an Eagle Scout as a boy and was a star receiver for the Cool
Springs High School varsity football team. After attending
McCallie Prep School, Thad attended the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts
degree in History in 1958. He would remain a lifelong Tarheel!
A Navy man, Thad made a bold
move to New York City to work in the textile industry. It was in
New York that he met fellow Southern girl Becky McDonald, and
they married in 1964. The newlyweds moved to California and had
two children before settling in DeLand in 1976. Thad worked in
the family title business for over 30 years…and was still
completing orders in late June of this year. Thad's soul
was always connected to North Carolina (his ashes will be spread
on the farm where he grew up). His talents were
his gardening and his cooking (who knew a country boy could make
such wonderful vichyssoise?). His love was his
family - wife Becky, children Sarah and Thad Jr. (whom he never
stopped checking up on– even in their 30s), and granddaughters
Rebekah, Staci, and Sofia.
Anyone who knew “Big Thad” – as
his daughter-in-law liked to call him, knew that he had a BIG
heart. We will all miss that big, loving, nurturing man.
Memorials may be made to:

A memorial
gift has been given to the building fund of New Light Methodist
Church by Rick & Fawn Chandler in memory of

Lcpl Joshua Salem Hawks
4TH ASSAULT AMPHIBIAN BATTALION, 4TH
MARINE DIVISION

December 17th, 1983 -
June 30th, 2006
Joshua Salem Hawks, age 22,
of Deland, went home to be with the Lord Friday, June 30, 2006.
Joshua moved to the Tampa Bay area seven years ago from Daytona
Beach, Fla. He is Methodist by faith and a member of First United
Methodist Church of Dover. He recently returned home from active
duty with the Marine Corps and was a student at Hillsborough
Community College. He is survived by his mother, Melissa Faraday
and husband
Steve; half-brother, John Faraday; father, Mark Hawks and wife
Judy; step-brothers Brandon and Chris Rush; maternal grandparents,
Art and Carolyn Vittur, paternal grandmother, Joyce Hawks; best
friend, Joey Austin; and girlfriend, Stephanee Stoner. Josh was a
friend to all and loved by many. A memorial service was conducted
Monday, July 3, 2006, at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist
Church of Dover. It was evident by the attendance that Josh was
well loved, as there was standing room only - complete with fellow
Marines in full uniform. Many family and friends shared special
memories they had of Josh, and of the twinkle in his eye. He was
full of life, and full of mischief! Josh was a loving, dedicated,
patriotic young man who was not afraid to serve his country. We
mourn his loss, but celebrate his life on earth, and his new life
eternal with his heavenly father. He will be greatly missed by all
who knew him.

A
memorial gift has been given to our building fund by
Fred and Ann Horn AND Ross & Nancy Geiger
in memory of

Glenn Arthur Aldous
June 20, 1934 - February 21, 2006
An accountant by trade, Glenn Arthur Aldous took
up acting late in life and turned professional in his 60s.
The DeLand resident played a judge in a 1991
Hallmark television movie, Separate But Equal with Burt Lancaster
and Sidney Poitier, and also had a small role in My Girl, starring
Macaulay Culkin and Jamie Lee Curtis and was in more than 30
commercials.
"He always said he wished he would have
discovered acting earlier," said his wife of 45 years, Joan,
who spent hours practicing lines with him.
Glenn Aldous died Tuesday after a short illness.
He was 71.
Born in Corinth, N.Y., Aldous attended Practical
Bible Training School in New York for two years and then
transferred to Stetson University in DeLand. He worked while in
college for an accounting firm owned by the father of his future
wife.
"He didn't know a debit from a credit but got
the job because his schedule worked better than the business major
who applied for the job," Joan Aldous said. "It turned
into his career."
Aldous worked for 20 years as an accountant and
was active as a choir member at Trinity United Methodist Church in
DeLand.
He found his passion when he began acting in small
parts in local plays.
His first role was 37 years ago in My Fair Lady at
the Stover Theater in DeLand. He acted in the musical Anything
Goes at the State Theater in Eustis and performed in Foxfire for
the Rivertown Players in DeLand.
Aldous was in Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic
Oklahoma at the Shoestring Theater in DeLand and other productions
after the theater moved to Lake Helen.
"After he started acting professionally, I
would always ask him to get autographs, and he would say no
because he had to remain professional," said his daughter,
Connie Kersey of DeLand. "They were just his
colleagues."
Kersey said her father was handy around the house
and could fix anything that was broken. She once saw a fountain in
front of a house and said she wanted one, so he built a replica of
the rock fountain for her yard.
Aldous also is survived by one sister, Iona Aldous
of Apopka; and one grandson.
