Hello, Once again thanks for keeping us in
your thoughts and prayers. Well we have not had much rain
here so it has become hot and dusty. But I guess it could
always be worse. I am counting the days that I have left to
go home and see my family next month. It has been a very
long 6 month stretch. Hope you find your self in great
health and spirit. Thanks again
Roy

Well I
have been meaning to write a letter but they have been
keeping us very busy. I just wanted to send you an email to
express my gratitude and appreciation for all the warm cards
and letters I have been receiving from you and several
members of The New Light Methodist Church. I thank you all
for keeping me and all the troops in your thoughts and
prayers.
Mrs.
Karen Clay sent me a one of the church’s bulletins; it was a
wonderful feeling to see my name in the bulletin showing the
church's support.
It sounds
like you have a wonderful community, hopefully one day I
will stop moving from place to place and get a chance to
enjoy something as wonderful as you all have in Deland.
Thanks
Roy

and letters. They have been keeping extremely busy the past few
weeks. Hopefully things will slow down now with the holidays
around the corner.

spirits. I once again am very thankful for everything you have
sent me. My battle buddies Victor and Tracy are also thankful
since I let them have some socks When I got notified that I had
5 boxes for mail I was Once I picked them up and saw that they
were all from you I was speechless. There are not enough words
to express my gratitude for everything.
My battle buddies Victor and Tracy are enjoy all
the goodies you have sent. You are making our deployment less
stressful.. Thanks again.
I miss the Tex-Mex food as well. I can't
complain here since they feed us very well most of the time. But
I still miss the food from Texas.
I was telling my daughter about you and how
supportive you all have been. She wanted me to tell you thanks
for being so nice and supportive to me. Actually she
said"thanks for sending my daddy lots of goodies" Kids
there so lovable.
Please say hi to all the members of your church
and thank them for adopting me.
Hope you are having a wonderful holiday season.

Greetings from Iraq….. J
have been nearly overwhelmed with letters and packages
from home it's been difficult to keep up with our thank you
notes. J
But please know that we appreciate every one of your
letters and packages. It means a lot to have the support of so
many people back home.
We've been lucky enough to get a
"boring" mission on a small camp in Balad. I'm a
medic, but they don't do any treatment on our camp (except minor
sick call stuff) and they never "need" me for convoys
(at least not yet) so I've been doing main training &
administrative tasks. Yada yada yada…..J
I'm originally from western New York, but have
lived in Pennsylvania for the last 7 years and am unsure of
where I will go when I return to the states. At home I am a full
time single mother, a student and a behavioral counselor by day,
a national guard soldier on the weekends. J
I've contemplated active duty, but I have one more course to
finish my degree. So I just decided to volunteer for a
deployment to do my part in supporting our guys over here……and
here I am. Joy of joys!J
I had hoped to be doing more medical work, but I suppose it's a
good thing when medics are not needed overly much. So I do a lot
of studying and training and online courses when I can.
It's chilly here now, especially at night. We
all have to bundle up for the evening shifts. It's a small camp
and we rarely leave it, so we go a bit stir crazy from time to
time stuck on a small area of sand surrounded by barbed wire and
cement barriers. We take turns going to the gym on the main base
once a week to play softball or volleyball. The squads also get
together (about eight people to each squad) to play board games
once in a while, and laugh at each other. A sense of humor goes
a long way here.
We live in little metal boxes J
not too unlike the ones that are carried on the backs of a semi
truck. But nearly every room as heat & air conditioning for
which I am very grateful. Even our towers are supplied with mini
fridges to keep our water cold (water water everywhere!!). The
USA brings the comforts of home wherever they go J
But most of all, we appreciate all of you back home.

Hello, first of all I would like to thank you
for your support. Second I would like to tell you that my
handwriting is not that good (sometimes I can’t even read my
own handwriting) so that is why I am typing this letter. I am 35
years old. Married and no kids, but I have 6 nieces and nephews,
so I think that is enough. First of all I was born in Kansas but
I claim San Antonio, Texas. My dad retired after 20 years in the
Air Force in Texas. My parents have been divorced since I was 12
or 13 years old, my dad found someone else. I have one older
sister, she is 38 years old, she has 5 kids 2 girls (1 20 yo and
one 5 yo) and 3 boys (one 18 yo and 3 yo twins). I have been in
the army 16 years. I am a SSG (Staff Sergeant) E-6. I am a
wheeled and track (tank) mechanic, but for the past 2 years I
have had an office job. I have been stationed in Germany for
over 11 years. These 11 years have been spread out (1 year, then
3 years, then over 7 years). I am married to a full blooded
German. I met my now wife at the end of 1998, went to Fort Hood
for 2 years and on Sept 11, 2001 we had our court wedding in
Denmark. Yes you read it right, when we got off the ferry from
Denmark we heard about the attacks. Some of my hobbies include
watching the San Antonio spurs play, the Dallas Cowboys play. I
am not into baseball or any college sports. My other hobbies are
also watching tv and movies. I watch pretty much anything. I am
also into wrestling (WWE) I know that stuff is fake, I also like
watching ultimate fighting Champion, that’s where two guys
beat each other up. Of course me being a mechanic I am also into
cars. I don’t watch nascar on a daily basis, but I will watch
just a few laps. I am very much into Chevy. I use to own a 1986
Monte Carol LS. Now I own a 1998 Camero Super Sport; both those
cars are dark blue in color. I am also in home and car audio. In
Germany, not too sure if you guys heard about the autobaun, but
it’s like a highway with no speed limits. I have had my camero
over 150 mph on the autobahn, my wife had it at about 145 mph
and I had to go faster than her and of course I did. Here in
Iraq it’s getting a little cooler. It can get over 120 degrees
during the summer and right now it gets as low as 40 degrees at
night. Well I hope that I will hear from you soon.

Hello my name is Rogelio but my friends call me "Roy" I
just wanted to say thank you very much for your support and for the
care package you sent me. The socks were a wonderful idea, they are
hard to come by here. I appreciate you as well and thank you for
your prayers as well.
Just a little info about myself I am from a small town in Texas
called Mission. I have one brother and one sister. I have been away
from Mission for a few years but I still call it home.
I want you to know that even though this is my second time here
in the desert in the past 36 months I love and enjoy what I do. I
very proud to serve.
Once again thanks for everything and its my pleasure to make your
acquaintance.
